GERUND USAGE PATTERNS IN ENGLISH MEDIA DISCOURSE

Abstract

This study focuses on the patterns of gerund usage in English media texts, emphasizing their semantic and syntactic roles. The media plays a significant role in framing information, influencing attitudes, and reflecting reality, and this process largely depends on its linguistic expression. The gerund, as a non-finite form, contributes to the functionality and stylistic coloring of media language, adding depth, variation, and semantic complexity. The main aim of this study is to identify and describe the main patterns and mechanisms through which gerunds are used in media texts.
