TIMURID PRINCESSES: THE POLITICAL AND CULTURAL ROLE OF WOMEN IN THE TIMURID DYNASTY

This article examines the role of Timurid princesses in the political system, dynastic strategy, and cultural life of the Timurid Empire during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. It analyzes the biographies of prominent women of the dynasty, including Gawhar Shad Begum, Saray Mulk Khanum, and other members of the Timurid royal household. Particular attention is paid to their influence on state governance, the construction of dynastic legitimacy, and the development of architecture, scholarship, and education. The study demonstrates that Timurid princesses were not merely passive figures but active participants in the political and cultural life of Central Asia.
