THE CONCEPTUAL NATURE OF POLYSEMOUS WORDS IN THE LEXICON OF OGHUZ DIALECTS

This thesis examines the conceptual nature of polysemous words in the lexicon of Oghuz dialects within a cognitive-semantic framework. The study aims to explain how polysemy arises through metaphor, metonymy, and prototypical categorization within a system of concepts. Units of Oghuz regional speech serve as the material for comparative analysis, and semantic shifts are modelled by means of conceptual mapping. The scientific novelty of the work lies in proposing an integrated classification of polysemy grounded in dialectal concepts and their semantic dynamics.
