This article examines the professional communicative skills required for specialists who work with individuals experiencing psychological depression or depressive states. The relevance of the research is determined by the fact that depression affects emotional stability, motivation, interpersonal relations and social participation; therefore, the quality of communication between a specialist and a client becomes an essential factor in support, referral and rehabilitation. The aim of the article is to identify the main communicative competencies that help a specialist establish trust, ensure emotional safety, recognize risk signals, respect ethical boundaries and support the client without stigma or pressure. The study uses descriptive, analytical, comparative and practice-oriented methods. The research analyzes scientific literature, international mental health recommendations and the communicative experience of social work and psychological support. The results show that effective work with depressed individuals requires active listening, empathy, non-judgmental speech, confidentiality, culturally sensitive language, clear questioning, crisis-oriented communication and interprofessional referral skills. The article concludes that professional communication is not an auxiliary element, but a central component of ethical and effective assistance to people in depressive states.
